It was my goal to get through an entire episode of "The Biggest Loser" without crying. I guess I'll try to reach that goal next week cuz I was a blubbering mess tonight!
I don't want to spoil the episode for those Tivo lovers like me who haven't watched yet, but I really can't say what I want to without giving away the elimination. Sooooooo...if you haven't watched tonight's show yet STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!!!

Ok. I assume everyone that is left has red eyes from watching tonight's episode, right? I won't even go into all of the details. I'm sure that so many of us have differing opinions about how it all went down. So let me get to the real reason I wanted to blog tonight. I was so moved my the response of Sean and Antoine. Say what you want, it was really big of them to sacrifice themselves for Shay. I think everyone watching knew that she needed to be there. Their words were filled with grace, humility, and self-sacrifice. I was so proud of them for how they handled themselves.
Of course I began rooting for Sean during the premiere episode when I thought that he looked familiar. That night, I paused my Tivo and googled him only to find that I had indeed met him over two years ago. If you haven't seen the video yet, here it is:
I also recognized him from those crazy videos tobyMac did with the release of "Portable Sounds":
Obviously that display of wit and humor was seen weekly on The Biggest Loser, which made me like Sean even more. But seeing his character tonight made him shine brighter than any star in the night sky. I'm so proud of how he carried himself in front of an audience of millions. I'm pleased to call him my brother in Christ. And I'm also so proud of him for continuing to take care of his temple (over 100lbs! You go!)
I saw a few of you send me messages on twitter saying that you were also moved by tonight's show. I figured that maybe some of you would like to send a message to Sean (and Antoine...and how cute are he and Alexandra?!). Go ahead and use the comment section below and I'll make sure Sean sees your messages. I'm sure he could use some encouragement and possibly some motivation as he continues to fight the good fight!

He is not only an amazing person inside and out...he is funny!!!
ReplyDeleteSean,
ReplyDeleteSir, I am so tired from the emotional roller-coaster that was tonight's episode of "TBL" that I cannot think of anything elegant to say as I would like to do. You & Antoine both displayed such a luminous example of grace under pressure and wisdom that went beyond the "obvious" answer (that Shay needed to be there more) to your dilemma. I just want you to know that there are many of us out here who recognize just where you got the strength & courage needed to make such a call, and we thank you for using His Guidance! Please give my best to your family --- especially your precious wife as she is expecting! =)
Mandisa, THANK YOU SO MUCH for providing me a place to share my thoughts with Sean. I was wondering how I might do that, and you were, incidentally, the first person I planned to ask for help! Thank you again, dear Sister!
Because HE LIVES!
Carey Ann Atherton (and family!)
Sean was like a city on a hill. He displayed sacrificial love and was demonstrating a Christ like response to the situation. I was so proud of him and so humbled by his response. Bless you Sean, Carol.
ReplyDeleteSean and Antoine - I am so proud of both of you! Sacrificing yourself speaks highly of your character and you really inspired many people. I am one of those people - I have 120 lbs to lose and it is so tough to get motivated and stay motivated. You both have done it at home and I know I can too. Thank you! Keep up the great work! Oh, and Antoine, you and Alexandra make the cutest couple. I am so happy for the both of you!
ReplyDeleteSean - I want to say that you are a true man of God. You are showing all of America what a true Christian is! You have a beautiful family and congrats on your growing family! You have a lot of supporters cheering you on with your weight loss. You can do this! Stay strong and keep spreading the word of God and sharing the importance of caring for our bodies.
God Bless!
loved the show and was so thrilled that Sean stood up for what was right, along with Antione. what honorable men they are! I was blown away. usually it's a cat fight, but man, that was awesome. furthermore, for sean to sit there and tell Tracey that he still loved her even through her actions was so humble...kind of like Christ does for us! wow...definitely amazed!
ReplyDeleteWe love Shaun over here! We live close to Tulsa which is where I hear he is from? Well we were so sad to hear of him leaving last night but gosh we were just astounded by the grace and the love of Christ that he and Antoine showed! I am sure that his church is just bursting with pride for him and the things he has done and is doing. We are looking forward to seeing him in the finale and seeing what God will continue to do in his life. This season has just been amazing for me to watch. I told my husband I love how *most* of them are so dedicated and serious about their life-changes and not just there for the money!
ReplyDeleteOn a different note, my husband and I were just about rolling when Shaun said, "I want to take a cupcake and rub it all over my body." He is so funny!
I was so overwhelmed last night watching the show. I have watch every season but this episode was truly my favorite because of what it communicated. What Shaun and Antoine did truly communicated unconditional love and people who "did nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility considered others better than themselves." (Phil 2:3) I still was in shock that all of that kind of stuff went down so early in the season, but I'm grateful for how the Lord used a reality tv show to demonstrate how He wants us to act toward others. May God bless Antoine and Alexandra's relationship and their journey toward their goals as well as Shaun and his family (new baby Jillian on the way!!!) as well as the ministry that God has called them to...To God Be the Glory!!
ReplyDeleteSean,
ReplyDeleteWhat you did on last night's episode of "The Biggest Loser" proved your heart is bigger than anyone could have expected. The grace and sacrifice you made to keep Shay on the show showed true character and strength. And, the fact that you went home and did it anyway is a huge motivator for millions of people around the world. God is using you in big ways to make an impact on His people this season. I know this won't be the last we see of you. May God continue to give you strength and courage as you fight the good fight!
Blessings & Prayers,
Emily
I too have a goal of making it through an episode without crying. I had never watched TBL until this season. I am so sorry that I waited. It has inspired me so much. My husband and I joined a gym this week and I am actually loving sweating.
ReplyDeleteWhat those two did for Shay this week, will be with her forever. She dodn't just need to stay there to lose the weight, she needed to stay there to continue to change herself inside. I am so proud of those guys.
I was truly blessed to witness the hands and feet of Christ in action in Sean and Antoine in this week's episode. You two are beautiful examples of the way all of humanity SHOULD behave when in a similar situation. I am so encouraged by your continued success with the weight loss and healthy living changes taking place in your lives! Be blessed my friends!!!
ReplyDeleteI bawled when I watched it! I thought it was a beautiful picture of grace. And I have to say Sean's words to the girl in purple(can't remember her name right now) were just as grace-filled as what he did for Shey. A true picture of CHRIST and his mercy!
ReplyDeleteI thought I was going to make it through the whole episode as well, but alas, I did not.
ReplyDeleteSean, I love that you represented Christ so well in this last episode. I love that people got to see what being a Christ follower is all about. Grace and sacrifice. The grace you showed to both Shay and Tracey was beautiful and I hope that everyone sees that HE that is in YOU, is GREATER than He that is in the world!
Your whole journey reminds me of 1 Cor. 6:19-20. Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and we are told to take care of it. You were doing just that, and facing your giants, by going on Biggest Loser. In verse 20 it says to "Glorify God in your body." which basically means to make HIS reputation better by how you treat your body. That by the way people see you treating your body, would make God's reputation greater. What an awesome picture! Through your job and clearly through Biggest Loser, you are doing just that. And oh, how I hope that they would see Him through you so that HIS reputation would be better!
You rock, Sean! I loved the RED team! Still do!
Huge Blessings,
Lindsee
P.S. I work in Youth Ministry as well, with girls specifically, so I was especially routing for you! You cracked me up!
